Akron Polymer Systems was founded in 2002 with the primary mission to utilize the unique expertise of our team of scientists to develop and commercialize high performance polymer products.

Our History

Akron Polymer Systems was founded by Dr. Frank W. Harris, an Emeritus Distinguished Professor of Polymer Science, and Dr. Stephen Z. D. Cheng, former Dean of the College of Polymer Science and Engineering, at the University of Akron. They assembled the team of world class scientists and engineering that comprise APS today. Our primary mission is to utilize the unique expertise of our Ph.D. scientists with degrees in organic chemistry, polymer science and chemical engineering to develop and commercialize high performance polymer products.

Polymers that we have developed and manufactured are used in displays, electronics, and automobiles worldwide. We have supported product development from chemical formulation, to pilot plant scale-up, to designing and installing manufacturing processes.
