For 45 years, Generic Theater has been Norfolk’s underground theater — producing bold, intimate work with a volunteer-powered community that keeps coming back show after show.

Now we have a dedicated home.

We’re transforming the historic Norfolk Masonic Temple at 7001 Granby Street into a black box theater — gutting the space, building it out from scratch, and opening our doors November 6, 2026.

We’re not finished yet. Your gift goes directly into this space — into the lighting grid, the electrical work, the stage, the seats — and into the next 45 years of theater in Norfolk.
