About

JHM is proud to present Masters of Photography, a pop-up, re-run of a 1939 exhibit originally put on by the museum’s amateur photography club. This club, housed in the old Sycamore School building and led by William “Dever” Timmons, allowed Coshocton locals to learn the finer points of capturing and developing photos.

In addition this exhibit will feature 45 of Dever Timmons’ extraordinary, award-winning photos. As film photography became increasingly more accessible, Timmons methods and techniques were unprecedented. He was the first American accepted into The Royal Photographic Society (R.P.S.), and for two years in a row he was considered the best amateur photographer in the world - with prints accepted into both the Louvre’s (Paris, France) and Smithsonian’s (Washington, D.C.) private collection.

This exhibit will be open from January 9th until March 8th. We would like to personally thank the relatives of Dever Timmons for their contributions to this show.
