Mami Monchitas

Born in El Paraíso, sisters Alda and Reina came to the United States in the early 90s and made Kentucky their home. In 2017, inspired by the love of service and culinary skills of their late mom, Monchita, they opened Mami Monchita’s, a Honduran restaurant in Frankfort, Kentucky. The restaurant’s goal was to bring Honduran cuisine to Frankfort while helping their community of El Paraíso by designating 10% of the profits of the restaurant to the work of the Greenhouses of Love Foundation a 501c3 Charity also founded by Alda and Reina. These donations have helped fund the initial projects and will continue to help further the mission of the foundation.
