Milwaukee's only long-term transitional housing program for young mothers and their children, offering up to 24 months of safe housing and holistic support on the path to their independence. Nia Imani Family has been a home for young mothers and their children in Milwaukee for over 30 years. Founded by Dr. Belinda Pittman, we provide safe, long-term housing and holistic support so families can move from crisis to stability—and from survival to independence. Pathways to Independence include: The Sacred Home — Long-term housing providing safety, stability, and trauma-informed care for young mothers and their children; The Path of Becoming — Life planning, job training, and education support that build independence and long-term stability; and The Mother & Child — Parenting, literacy, and family support programs that strengthen generational stability.
