Pittsburgh Walk of Fame
About
The Pittsburgh Walk of Fame has moved from vision to reality!
The ribbon has been cut on this exciting new visitor attraction, located at the Strip District Terminal, and the first ten stars are embedded in the sidewalk. A festive ceremony on October 20th honored inaugural inductees George Benson, Nellie Bly, Andrew Carnegie, Rachel Carson, Roberto Clemente, Michael Keaton, Fred Rogers, Jonas Salk, Andy Warhol, and August Wilson—all luminaries with ties to southwestern Pennsylvania who have made notable contributions to our nation’s culture.
Highlighting the ceremony were remarks by the two living honorees: George Benson, whose pre-recorded comments were delivered on large screens, and Michael Keaton, who took to the podium to deliver heartfelt comments to enthusiastic fans who filled the street.
It was an uplifting and inspirational opening of this new must-see spot in Pittsburgh, which is located on Smallman Street in the Strip District, between 18th and 19th streets.
