Richland Self Storage

The Village of Richland was established in 1830 and was named after the fertile soil of Gull Prairie. The only traffic light today represents where the village began long ago. In 1870, the Village of Richland was incorporated by Eli Miller who introduced a bill to incorporate the village after he was elected to the State Legislature. Within a year, Charles B. Brown was elected the first president, as well as Recorder, Assessor, Treasurer and Four Trustees.

Richland, Michigan natives include Brothers Charles S. May and Dwight May, both lieutenant governors of Michigan during the 19th Century.
