About This Event

Slow down, look closely, and experience Ford House through the lens of the natural world on a guided Bird Walk.

Bird Walks offer a rewarding opportunity to connect with nature while learning about the many bird species that inhabit and migrate through the Ford House estate. Led by knowledgeable birders from the local community, these walks invite participants to explore a range of habitats, from shoreline and meadows to wooded areas and gardens, gaining insight into how landscape and season influence birdlife.

Each walk is unique, shaped by the time of year, weather conditions, and migration patterns. Participants often spot a wide variety of birds and leave with a deeper understanding of the estate’s ecology, making this experience appealing for both seasoned birders and those new to birdwatching.

Bird Walks last approximately two hours and follow a mix of paved and unpaved paths. Guests should dress for the weather, wear waterproof walking shoes, and opt for muted colors to minimize disturbance to wildlife. Participants are encouraged to bring binoculars, although a limited number may be available for borrowing.

Following the walk, guests are invited to gather for a cup of coffee or tea and share observations, questions, and discoveries in a relaxed, social setting.

In the event of severe weather, the program will be canceled. Tickets may be donated to support Ford House’s educational initiatives or exchanged for a future program.

Bird Walks at Ford House offers a thoughtful way to spend time outdoors, deepen your connection to the landscape, and experience the estate as a living habitat shaped by the rhythms of nature.
