Why did TownVue email my business?
A neighbor near you asked for help on Ask Your Town, and your business fits what they need. TownVue is a local directory where neighbors find businesses, events and things to do in their town. Your listing is on it, so the request came to you.
How it works
- A neighbor describes a job once. Fixing a fence, monthly bookkeeping, a carpet cleaned.
- TownVue sends it to every local business that fits, at the same time. That's businesses in that town, or serving it, whose listing matches the work.
- You reply on TownVue. Add a price or range, photos of your work, and any questions. You can also reply straight from the email once your listing is claimed.
- The neighbor chooses. They read replies, message the businesses they like, and share their contact with the one they pick. If they hire you and you confirm it, it shows on your listing.
What it costs
Getting requests is free, and so is replying on the Free plan. A paid plan adds reach and tools. It never puts your reply first or tells you about a request sooner.

Which plan makes sense?
- Stay on Free if you mostly work in your own town and a couple of replies a month covers the requests you want.
- Plus makes sense when you serve nearby towns too, you'd reply to more than a couple of requests a month, or someone else on your team should get requests and reply.
- Pro is for businesses that serve a wide area or have a few people answering requests.

Questions businesses ask
How do I get requests for my business?
Claim your listing. Requests that fit your categories and description go to the listing's email, and you reply on TownVue or by replying to the email. Keep your specialty and service areas current so the right requests find you.
Do I have to claim my listing to get requests?
Requests that fit an unclaimed listing still go to its email, but to reply you claim the listing first. Claiming is free and takes about two minutes, and the request waits for you.
Does it cost my business anything?
No. Getting requests is free, and the Free plan includes 2 replies a month. Replies to neighbors who ask for your business by name never count.
Does a paid plan get my business more requests?
A plan never changes the order a neighbor sees replies or the moment you hear about a request. Plus and Pro reach more of the towns you serve, remove the monthly reply limit, and add tools like saved replies and a teammate who can reply.
Can I choose which requests my business gets?
Yes. In request settings you can pause requests or turn them off, mute kinds of work, list words to avoid, and choose an email per request or one daily summary. If you keep passing on one kind of request, we ask before we stop sending it.
What if a request isn't a fit for my business?
Mark it not a fit on the request page. It doesn't use a reply, and the neighbor isn't told.
Why should my business confirm a hire?
Confirmed hires show on your listing and next to every reply you send, so neighbors see that other neighbors chose you. Only hires you confirm count, and no plan can add to them.
How do I stop these emails?
Every Ask Your Town email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom, and it stops them right away. Once you claim your listing, you can also pause requests in request settings.
